Now that we’ve gotten a quick run down, let’s start with a real introduction. What do you want our readers to know most about you?

I am a Black woman. A multi-faceted creative entrepreneur. Intentional. Passionate. Vulnerable. Accountable. I list these things in this manner because it also lets you know that I am a straight shooter. Direct and to the point for the most part lol.

Tell me about the first time you realized you wanted to start your own creative media agency, and what your favorite production that you’ve curated is thus far?

I dreamt a lot in elementary school. I wanted to be a plethora of things, but I realized I wanted to work for myself in college. I don’t know if I knew it would be a creative media agency because I had intentions of becoming an entertainment lawyer but after finishing up a PR internship in LA, I fell in love with PR. I loved how PR felt for me and how it allowed me to utilize all the things I am interested in. From beauty to fashion to television to events. I can help elevate the stories of people who look like me across different industries.

What are your two dream events?

One of my dream events happened this past Valentine’s Day called Kouples N’ Karaoke (follow us on IG @kouplesnkaraoke – to learn more!) and my second dream event is to create my version of the Oscars but that’s inclusive, safe, and for the artist.

Name your favorite fashion icons.

Rihanna, Ryan Destiny, Kelly Rowland, and Elaine Welteroth.

Working in the creative industry is certainly not for the faint of heart. There are late nights, early mornings, short notices, and so many other hurdles, what have you found works for you to relieve some of the pressures you feel?

I have had to learn to create boundaries for myself, grow a better relationship with the word no, and grace. Boundaries have helped me with being disciplined and taking the time to be productive vs busy. Being able to say “no” has given me space to not wear myself thin but also be more accepting when I’m told no. Grace is SUPER important for me because I can be ridiculously hard on myself - so holding space to acknowledge that I am not in the mood to be 100%, or that I have fallen short, or that I have even done an amazing job, has released the pressure on me to act as if I am superhuman.

If you’re willing to, please share about the first time you felt like you failed in your advancements for growth, and what you felt like the first time you felt like you won.

TBH, I feel like I am in a perpetual state of failure. Not in a way where I am not doing the work, but in entrepreneurship your wins come from your losses. So, each advancement I have experienced has put me in the position to see where I still have more room to grow and improve. Those advancements have come from me taking Ls. You have to be able to take the good with the bad.

Where do you see yourself by the end of this year?

I see myself still working on expanding my vision. I see that I will have new projects out for the world to consume and just financially in a healthier and wiser place.

Do you have any advice for young black creatives who are pursuing a career in the industry?

Be intentional. Be accountable and keep your heart open. If you do things with intention, then you know you’re doing purposeful work that’s contributing to the global community for the long term. Being accountable allows us to remain grounded, and not becoming closed off to the world after having your heartbroken keeps you in touch with God (or whatever higher power you believe).

Editor’s Note:

This interview was initially going to be conducted in person, but moved to a complete digital style, obviously due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I got to catch up with Bianca in a Google Hangout and it was great! I think something really important for the reader to know about Bianca is her genuine authenticity and love. She quite literally radiates love and sunshine when you meet in her person.

At the Fall 2019 Coterie show, I had the pleasure to see her in action. She was in her modeling bag while there and had an energy that commanded any space she was in. There’s something about Bianca that makes you want to know her. Then when you do get the pleasure of meeting her, you find a beautiful spirit and energy that’s quite clearly based on love.  Keep up with Bianca by following her on IG:
